The GYA Cheerleading program offers recreational cheerleading to children Kindergarten-6th grade. Cheerleaders are taught basic to Intermediate skills and use those skills to cheer on the GYA football teams during the Fall season. Our goal is to teach cheerleading techniques in a fun and non-threatening environment where every child can be successful. The focus of the GYA program is on developing good life skills through the sport of cheerleading.

The purpose of the Grandview Youth Association Cheerleaders is to create and promote loyal team spirit and the ideal of good sportsmanship by encouraging honesty, loyalty, courage, and reverence. Cheerleaders focus on the development of spirit and cheer technique, leadership, cooperation, self-discipline, and sportsmanship in each individual member and squad. Molding of good, clean, healthy future citizens is of prime importance.

GYA Cheer is an organization in Grandview with a focus on teaching basic cheerleading skills.  We teach in an environment where each child has an equal opportunity to be successful.  Whether your child is looking for a new activity or looking to gain cheer experience to ready them for middle school cheer, GYA Cheer is a fantastic introduction to the experience of sideline cheer.  Each team will learn chants, cheers, jumps, stunts and how to initiate crowd participation.

$225-2021 Cheer registration cost.

Our pricing includes a custom top and skirt, briefs, pom poms, Jacket, a megaphone/bucket, bow, cheer shoes, socks and Pink out accessories.  We hold 2 uniform fitting sessions where uniform reps have a range of sizes in tops, skirts and shoes for each cheerleader to try on.  It is very important that each cheerleader attends the fitting to ensure the best fit for their uniform and shoes.

In addition to the registration fees, many coaches choose to have items, such as bows, bag, bucket and megaphones, personalized.  Typical extra cost for item personalization can range.

We place cheerleaders on teams based on GVISD age Chart/grade level.

·         Freshman-Kindergarten, First, Second

·         Junior-Third & Fourth

·         Senior-Fifth & Sixth

We cannot guarantee cheerleaders will be cheering for their sibling’s football teams. Our goal is to create teams that can stay and grow together throughout many seasons.

Once registration closes and uniforms are ordered, no refunds will be issued.

GYA offers Fall cheer only.  Fall Cheer runs from August-November.

Practice days, times and locations are determined by each coach.

Teams practice 1-2 times a week for no more than 2 hours total.

Games are held on Saturdays at various Sports Complexes within our Football Association. Game times vary.

During our GYA Homecoming game, our teams will show off with a halftime performance.  Each team is given time to perform cheers or a choreographed dance for family and friends as well as all other cheer teams.  We also participate in Meet the Zebras and our hometown Homecoming parade.

If you are interested in volunteering in any capacity for GYA Cheer, please contact our current commissioner, Mintara Maxfield, at [email protected] or 254-592-2635.
